“Dear Mr. Woodhouse;
Ankara team is organizing the competition.
They are working for the organization of this competition very
seriously.
Most probably, the competition will be in VIZE field close to
Istanbul and Bulgarian border (130 km. to each direction) where we
are organizing the Istanbul Cup. The field is very good. Mr. Victor
Stamov and Mr. Roland Koglot said it is one of the best fields. But
there is very high risk of wind.
The planned date is the last week of July-2010.
Best regards,
ISMET YURTSEVEN”
2010 World Space Modelling Championships

100 Years Of The Gamage
The FFTC are considering ways to recognize 100 years of the Gamage Cup which was first presented in 1910. If you have any ideas for this please submit them by email to chris.strachan@btinternet.com
London Area Free Flight Site
The proposal by London Area to adopt Salisbury Plain as a venue for Area events has received some interest but to date only one person has volunteered to help with CD duties. If flyers want this venue to be used more volunteers are needed.
Volunteers should contact Peter Williams (Richmond MAC) at peter.f1a@virgin.net or tel. 01252 842120 or Martin Dilly (Croyden MAC) at MartinDilly@compuserve.com A CD is needed for each area event and to ensure this two or more people should share the duties so that a CD is always available. The CD's job is not arduous and will essentially be to set-up control with score sheets, a money box and score cards, organize fly-off times and collate results, most of the other activities being undertaken by the contestants.
Calendar and Rule Changes
Having considered the views and comments received in response to the proposals for change we have now finally settled on the rule changes and calendar for 2010. A brief summary of these is:
Rule Changes2009 Team Selection
BMFA Power
Category (iii) – For models not fitted with any moving trim surfaces other than DT. The motor run will now be reduced from 10 seconds to 9 seconds.
E30 Electric
Lipo Cells (single 70 mAh maximum) will now be permitted in addition to Nicad cells.
Open Electric
This will be called BMFA Electric and will now permit the use of Brushless motors with a 20 second run allowance, as well as Brushed motors with a 25 seconds run. The latter is to reflect the increase in performance.
F1Q Electric
For UK F1Q contests – and when flown in combined events – the motor run will be reduced to 20 seconds.
HLG – CLG
In these classes it has been normal practice to return flight cards after every 2nd/3rd flight. However, despite the wide acceptance such has never been official. It will now be official and will appear in the rule book under the relevant class rules.
In addition there are a number of 'housekeeping' changes. These consist of corrections to previous anomalies or omissions that have occurred over the years due to the introduction of new classes.
Calendar
There will now be a number of extra Area Centralised and Centralised events. In response to the requests received one of these will be in the winter and two in the summer. Throughout the year some events will have a reduced number of classes – achieved by combined classes – and some will have an increased number as a result of separating some of the 'unpopular' combinations. Generally there will be the same total number of classes/opportunities to fly but spread over a longer period.
In particular where BMFA Rubber, Glider and Power classes were run at an event they will be replaced with Combined Rubber, Glider and Power, thus giving less classes at a number of events but throughout the season. The Electric classes will not be removed from Combined Power but FAI F1C and F1Q 'will' be run separately.
It was also proposed to run the two 2-day events (the London and East Anglian Galas) as single day events. However the general response was that the existing 2-day format was preferred. As a result they will remain as 2-day events with some changes to the class make-up.
Full details (wording) of the rule changes will appear the FFTC web site and will of course be available in the new rule book to be published in early 2010. The 2010 calendar will be published in the course of the next few weeks.
Pre-entry is available for the 2009 Team Selection events and the entry form has been included in the BMFA News. A copy is also attached to this Newsletter. Please note closing date for pre-entries is 31 August 2009 if you want to take advantage of the saving in entry fee.
