News from the FFTC April 2006
(Issue 14)

Stonehenge Cup 2006

A final reminder for those who may be still unaware. Please note that the originally programmed 'extra' Vintage and Classic events have been withdrawn due to the large number of other Vintage meetings close to this date. Please inform anyone you know who may still be intending to travel to this event and expecting these classes to be flown.

London Gala

Despite the best endeavours the classes advertised for the LONDON GALA on the 30 April / 1st May have been misprinted in a number of events calendars. Please note that the correct version (minus the 'additional' Non-Senior Championship classes) appears on the FFTC 2006 Calendar and in the 'yellow' panel included with the FF Nationals publicity in the current BMFA News (all classes). All other notifications, including the entries in the BMFA News calendar are incorrect. To repeat, the correct entry is as follows: Sunday 30th April – OG, OR, Combined OP/SLOP, OE, Club Championships. Monday 1st May – F1G, F1H, F1J-1/2A Power, E30, CO2. All these events count for the Senior Championship. In addition there are the following Non-Senior Championship events run by the London Area: Sunday 30th – Vintage and F1E. Monday 1st – Mini Vintage and All-in Classic Glider. Again please pass this information on to anyone you know intending to travel to the event.

Nationals

This year's event should be the biggest and best yet. We have obtained major sponsorship for the prizes and also broadened the publicity drive – by now you should have noticed this, unless you 'ignore' the modelling press. In particular there is a lot of interest in the field entry events, we hope that this will give a 'taster' to those on the fringes of FF and even attract some long term to the mainstream of Free Flight.

Rules Changes

A reminder for rule change proposals for 2007. June is rapidly approaching and this is the practical cut off date to give time for publication and comment. Submission to Technical Council is required by 25th September 2006. We (the FFTC) need your input no later than 20th June 2006 to enable proper circulation and discussion.

International Teams

Geoff Stringer has unfortunately had to withdraw from his F1B Rubber place in this year's European Champs in the Ukraine. His place will be taken by Brian Martin.

BOM and the Future

We are beginning to receive a quantity of input on the BOM together with a number of proposals for changes to classes and the calendar in general. We have for some time been considering all of these subjects and now have in mind a 'radical' change to the whole structure and regulation of our contest scene. Many have voiced an opinion that this possible 'new package' is well overdue.

Send us your views before mid June, so that they may be considered for the discussion draft we will put out after our June meeting. Nothing is finalised, now or at that point, and we will carefully take account of all 'sensible' suggestions. Let's hear from you now, not when it's too late to consider your ideas.
